Mother Elephant Defends Her Baby From Lions

A group of lions watched an elephant herd closely as the animals moved across the open landscape. When the predators came too close to a young calf, the mother immediately moved into defense.

She charged toward the lions with her ears spread wide, forcing the predators to scatter. Other members of the herd quickly surrounded the calf, creating a powerful wall of protection.

The lions eventually retreated, proving once again that attacking an elephant family can be an extremely risky decision. Elephant herds are famous for protecting their youngest members.
