A young leopard made a risky approach toward a herd of African buffalo, possibly hoping to find a vulnerable target. But the buffalo quickly detected the predator and responded as a group.
The leopard immediately realized the danger and scrambled into a nearby tree. Below, several buffalo gathered around the base, staring up at the predator that had dared to approach them. A documented Sabi Sand encounter similarly saw a young leopard driven into a tree by a large buffalo herd.
High above the ground, the leopard waited patiently until the buffalo eventually lost interest and moved away. The encounter was a perfect reminder that in the African bush, even an experienced predator can suddenly become the one trying to escape.
